..on various messageboards people that i guess you would call "feverish ladder-climbers"? If you can think of the real term for this, go ahead LOL
I mean, in the past and even now, there are certain people online who you watch trying so very hard to worm their way in with everyone and anyone who is connected to a record label or a specific artist and you find these people promoting themselves in just about every post they make. And when any opportunity comes along to add a position to their "resume" of importance, they grab it, even if they aren't qualified for the position or you suspect they don't have any real interest in the artist, that the enthusiasm that they muster to post about the artist is merely redirected enthusiasm they have for getting higher up in the world.
Does this bother anyone else? Am i just on crack? LOL
After rereading this, i wonder if people ever think that about my so-called higher status ha ha! Cos you know Sony is very much about rewards and perks :X

Unless you have been passing that crack around... it bothers me too Steen.
And I think it does because there is a real mis-conception in regards to just what "recognition" people recieve. As I said before, it isn't a regular week on Moderator duty if I don't get asked at least once, if I can tell Darren something for someone, or get information that would mean accessing someone I just don't have access to. I can not call Darren up on his phone; he does not have dinner, or anything else for that matter , with me. And I suspect you have similar experiences Steen.
And as for people who seek out to be "leaders of everything", from my experience, they are often (but not always) lonely people that are in need of positive attention because they lack that in thier lives. Often they think that if they take on these leadership roles that will make them look important and therefore they will feel better about themselves. Sadly... their perceptions are often very wrong and that hurts them more.
And of course, there are some (and they are present in so many fanbases) that are not the lonely, seeking positive attention type; but the egotistical controlling type. Neither is very healthy and neither gives them the end results they are attempting to get.

I don't really have a clue what you are thinking about. lol...but I am often oblivious to the world around me.
I guess in general I'm not impressed by ladder-climbing and all the politics that goes on in I guess all communities of any sort.

totally agree Steen!!! See it happen and it makes me puke.. they want some sort of fame by association. Many of them claw their way to somewhere and then offer out so called scraps of secret info they have. Others hang around these people who they think have the inside track. Others just say all teh right things at the right times to appear like they are sooo supportive of said artist.

I think you made a pretty good assessment there Laurie *s*
LOL Kat, you know very well what those sort of people are like, eh? *chuckle* I wish i had enough free time to fake enthusiasm in things like that! LOL
